Fresh Water Fishing in North Texas?

I am new to Dallas and can use some advice on shore fishing in North Texas. I don't have a boat.

So far I've had some luck with Crappie at Lewisville Lake and a few striped bass at Grapevine Lake. Are the following lakes any good for shore fishing?

Lavon Lake?
Benbrook Lake?
Lake Worth?

What about cat fishing on the Trinity River? Where's the best spot? Are there any dams with public access? I don't mind driving a few hundred miles to catch fish.

Any advice to a new guy is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

.

I know you can fish below Lake Ray Roberts damn on both sides never tried it though. Also the Isle du bois park in Ray Roberts has a public fishing pier great for crappie in the spring or early in the morning in the winter. Also I have had really good luck catching cat fish there. As far as the Trinity river I fished the Green belt via Kayak and have caught crappie out of there no cat fish though. I do see a lot of spotted gar when Im fishing, and you know the Trinity river is known to have alligator gar up to 6 ft and length. I hope that helps!! Also dont be shy to try local golf course ponds you would be really surprised the size bass you catch out of those.
